Under-sink water filters are the sweet spot between a basic filter jug and a full reverse osmosis system. They plumb directly into your cold water line, deliver filtered water on demand, and tackle chlorine, heavy metals, PFAS and limescale — without the wastewater of RO. We’ve reviewed the best under-sink options available in the UK.

The picks

Waterdrop TSA 3-Stage Under Sink Water Filter

Best Budget
  • •Price: ~£118.99 (was £139.99)
  • •8-stage deep filtration — reduces chlorine, fluoride, heavy metals, sediment
  • •Direct connect to existing faucet, no separate tap needed
  • •Pipe compatibility: 3/8" and 1/2" UK pipe sizes
  • •NSF/ANSI 42 certified
  • •No wastewater

The TSA is the under-sink filter we’d recommend to most people. It connects directly to your existing kitchen faucet — no drilling, no separate tap — and uses 8-stage deep filtration. It handles chlorine taste and odour, fluoride, heavy metals and sediment without wasting water like an RO system. Filters last around 6 months before replacement. At ~£119, it’s one of the most affordable certified under-sink options in the UK.

Waterdrop 10UB-UF Ultra Filtration System

Best for PFAS
  • •Price: ~£130
  • •0.01 micron ultrafiltration membrane — reduces PFAS, lead, chlorine, cysts
  • •Under-sink, direct connect
  • •Pipe compatibility: 3/8" and 1/2" UK pipe sizes
  • •NSF-certified
  • •No wastewater

The 10UB-UF sits between the budget TSA and premium RO. It uses a 0.01 micron ultrafiltration membrane — fine enough to catch PFAS and lead without the wastewater of reverse osmosis. If PFAS removal is your priority but you don’t want to spend £400+ on RO, this is the sweet spot. NSF-certified, fits UK plumbing, maintains good water flow rate.

Waterdrop G3P600 Reverse Osmosis System

Best Filtration
  • •Price: ~£399.99 (was £549.98)
  • •Reverse osmosis, 8-stage filtration — removes up to 99.99% of contaminants
  • •Tankless, dedicated faucet included
  • •Capacity: 600 GPD
  • •Removes PFAS, lead, arsenic, fluoride, microplastics

If you want the most thorough filtration available, the G3P600 is it. Reverse osmosis removes contaminants at a molecular level — including dissolved solids that carbon and ultrafiltration can’t touch. The tankless design means no bulky storage tank, and the 600 GPD capacity handles a family of four easily. It does produce some wastewater (improved 1.5:1 ratio) and requires a dedicated faucet, but the water quality is unmatched.

Buying guide — how to choose

Carbon vs Ultrafiltration vs RO

Carbon (TSA): Removes chlorine, taste, odour, some heavy metals. Best for taste improvement. No wastewater. ~£119.

Ultrafiltration (10UB-UF): Adds PFAS and lead removal. No wastewater. ~£130.

Reverse Osmosis (G3P600): Removes everything including dissolved solids. Produces some wastewater. ~£400.

UK Plumbing Compatibility

UK kitchen cold taps typically run on 15mm (1/2") pipework. All Waterdrop under-sink systems include adaptors for 3/8" and 1/2" connections. If you have a monobloc mixer tap, check whether the system connects to the existing faucet or requires a dedicated tap (RO systems need their own faucet).

Installation

All three systems are designed for DIY installation. No plumber needed for most UK kitchens. The TSA and 10UB-UF connect to your existing faucet. The G3P600 requires a dedicated faucet (included).

Filter Replacement

Carbon filters: every 6 months. UF membrane: every 12-18 months. RO membrane: every 2-3 years. Pre-filters: every 6-12 months.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install an under-sink filter myself?
Yes. Waterdrop systems are designed for DIY installation on UK plumbing. The TSA and 10UB-UF connect to your existing faucet. The G3P600 needs a dedicated faucet (included).
Do under-sink filters waste water?
Carbon and ultrafiltration systems (TSA, 10UB-UF) produce zero wastewater. Reverse osmosis systems (G3P600) produce some wastewater — about 1.5 gallons per gallon of filtered water.
How often do I need to replace filters?
Every 6 months for carbon filters, 12-18 months for UF membranes, 2-3 years for RO membranes.
Will an under-sink filter fit my kitchen?
If you have a standard UK kitchen sink with 15mm (1/2") cold water pipe, yes. All systems include adaptors.
What’s the difference between under-sink and a filter jug?
Under-sink filters are always-on, deliver filtered water directly from your tap, remove more contaminants, and cost less per litre than replacement jug cartridges.
